JENNA PRZYBYSZ
Scholar | Performer | Educator

About

Jenna Przybysz is an ethnomusicologist, saxophonist, and educator currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a Ph.D. candidate in ethnomusicology at Stanford University and a teaching fellow at the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity for the 2026-27 academic year. Her research—supported by a Fulbright-Hays DDRA grant as well as a Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellowship—rethinks the formation of “unlikely” social solidarities between transnational musical communities.

Her research is deeply influenced by and intertwined with her experiences as a saxophonist and woodwind doubler in Chicago. In addition to her academic work, Przybysz sustains performance endeavors both locally in the Bay Area and beyond. She also teaches woodwind lessons through her own private studio. She earned a M.A. in the Humanities from the University of Chicago and B.M. in Jazz Studies from DePaul University.
